Kyra Minton Sedgwick is a native of New York, and is an American actor. The actress is a household name across the world, and in particular America because of her leading role in the TV show 'The Closer'. Sedgwick has always had an interest in the arts, Broadway and performing since the age of 12. Her introduction to Broadway by her mother, who had an interest in the field. Sedgwick was only 16 when she got her acting career started on the show 'Another World. Her desire was to make a name for herself as an actor, not just small TV part that attracted Sedgwick initially. First, her support role in the Tom Cruise film Born on the Fourth of July turned her into a star in the screen. After the success of this film, Sedgwick got more roles in films such as 'Singles', 'Heart and Souls", 'Phenomenon' etc. Sedgwick was a part of Kevin Bacon in a TV show known as Lemon Sky. She married Kevin Bacon at 22. Sedgwick became a household name on American TV for her remarkable role in "The Closer" the seven-season T.V. series which won her the Golden Globe Award and Emmy.
