
Leona Louise Lewis (born on April 3, 1985) is a British singer, songwriter, actress and activist. Born within the London Borough of Islington, she studied at her school at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology in Croydon. Lewis received national recognition when she was awarded the third season on The X Factor 2006 and won a contract worth 1,000,000 pounds with Syco music. The Kelly Clarkson cover"A Moment Like This" was her winning song. The song racked up 50,000 digital downloads in less than 30 minutes, and topped No. 1 for the duration of 4 weeks. In February 2007, Lewis was signed to a contract for five albums with the United States with Clive Davis's record label, J Records. Lewis's success continued as she dropped her debut album, Spirit (2007). It was certified platinum in the UK and became the fourth most-sold album in the 2000s. Spirit is, as per Official Charts Company is the 21st Century's most-sold debut album by a female singer. Its top-selling single in the United Kingdom, Bleeding Love, remained at the top of the charts at. #1 for seven weeks, and was the best-selling album of 2007, According to the Official Charts company. The track was also among the top-selling in 2008, as well. Lewis won an award for her work, the Billboard Award for the Best New Artist. In 2009 she released her second studio album, Echo and also composed the theme song, "I See You" in the movie Avatar. Lewis also made her debut with "Collide" in the year 2011, in a collaboration in collaboration with Swedish DJ Avicii. In addition, she dropped Hurt The EP in 2011, her first ever extended-play. The third album she released, Glassheart (2012), brought a brand new direction to her music for Lewis, drawing in dubstep as well as electronic music. During her Glassheart Tour in 2013, she started recording music for her first Christmas album. The following year, her Christmas with Love with Love, featuring the lead single "One more sleep", reached number three on the charts in the UK.
